About Pipwise
Last updated: October 13, 2026
Pipwise is a free site for people who work for a paycheck in the United States. We cover the earning side of money: getting a raise that beats inflation, deciding when changing jobs pays, keeping the tax on side income under control, and reading your own pay stub.
How we work
- Every number has a source. Pay and price figures come from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. Tax and labor rules come from the IRS, the Social Security Administration, the U.S. Department of Labor and state agencies. Each guide lists its sources at the end, with links.
- Worked examples are calculated, not estimated. The numbers in our examples are computed from the stated assumptions when the site is built, with the same formulas our calculators use, so the text and the tools always agree.
- Dates are on every guide. Each guide shows when it was published or last updated. When a threshold or rule changes, we update the guide and the date.
- No paid placements. We don't accept payment to mention a product or company in a guide. Headlines on our news page are shown as a short excerpt with a link to the publisher; we don't copy articles.
- AI-assisted, checked by sources. Some drafts are prepared with AI assistance. Facts, figures and quotes are checked against the official sources listed before publishing.
What we are not
Pipwise publishes general education. It is not personal financial, tax or legal advice, and we are not a law firm, an accounting firm or a financial adviser. For decisions that depend on your own situation, talk to a qualified professional.
Corrections
If you find a mistake, email hello@pipwise.info with the page and what's wrong. We check every report against the source and fix confirmed errors, updating the date on the guide.
